CCC is flexible and you can choose exactly what you want to back up. Back up only an individual folder, or an entire external hard drive. I just did a dry run with some media managed libraries here, and it worked fine. Create a backup on your external drive or back up your files to another Macintosh. Obviously test the workflows for you first. Then you just have to remove the old event or events. and fcpx is smart enough to not make duplicate media, and knows to copy the new media over. This will also include any keyword ranges and such that the editor applied to any clips. Then FCPX will move the events over and you'll have everything in the "back up library. FCPX will ask if you want to include optimized or proxy media**. You could also try dragging events between matching "media managed" libraries. (this will cause the "content created date" of compound clips and the like to change) The easiest is to send a library XML between two "media managed libraries" the "back up' library will ask if you want to replace the clips. However, you have a couple other options. I know, it's archaic, but it's the way I have to roll:-) In advance, let me say that I'm not willing to go with only Proxy media, or Original media.I want each Library to have the whole kit and kaboodle in it. I realize that my way is clunky, but it results in three full, updated copies on three different drives of an assignment in progress.Ĭarbon Copy Cloner does the incremental update, but somehow loses the "Library" package and icon, which doesn't help me.
CARBON COPY CLONER INCREMENTAL BACKUP HOW TO
Maybe what I should be asking is how to copy a Project snapshot from one Library to a similar Library on another drive.
CARBON COPY CLONER INCREMENTAL BACKUP UPDATE
What I am looking for is a way to just update the changes in the Library from the editor's drive to the two backup drives, preferably without starting from scratch each and every time we back up. So then I drag the Library icon from his drive onto the other two drives, and it begins the long and tedious task of replacing the old Library with new one from scratch.even though most of the content has not changed. Sometimes, it's just the Project in the Library that the editor has updated, but sometimes, there's the addition of more footage etc. I want to immediately update the other two Libraries on the other drives to include the new work. I give one to the editor, he does a ton of work and sends or brings the drive back. Typically I will make copies of the Library (including the High Quality Media, a practice that has subjected me to some ridicule in these forums:-) on two or three auxiliary hard drives. Well, I'm not sure if your system would work.
